Notary public & documents
A Florida notary public attests that you signed. That is exactly what I do, and I do it properly.
What I do
- I verify your identity, witness the signature, and apply the seal. The fee is set by law: $10 maximum per notarial act.
- I perform marriages anywhere in Florida. You bring the marriage license; I sign it and return it to the county within the 10 days the law requires.
- On a simple divorce, I type onto the Florida Supreme Court approved form exactly what you dictate, and I hand you the signed Nonlawyer Disclosure before we start.
What I cannot do
- I cannot tell you which form to use, what to ask for, or how to answer. That is legal advice.
- I cannot notarize a blank document, or for someone who is not physically present.
- I do not use, and do not accept, any title that suggests I am an attorney.
What to bring
- Current photo ID
- The unsigned document
- For a wedding: the Florida-issued marriage license
Shall we start?
Call me or send a WhatsApp. On the first call I will tell you whether this is something I can do, or whether you need an attorney.

How much does it cost to notarize a document in Florida?
Ten dollars per notarial act, maximum. The fee is set by state law (Fla. Stat. § 117.05) and no Florida notary public may charge more for a single act. If you were charged more, you were overcharged.
Is a Florida notary public the same as a “notario” in Latin America?
No. In Venezuela, Colombia, or Mexico a “notario” is a lawyer with broad powers. In Florida a notary public is a state-authorized witness who verifies identity and observes signatures, nothing more. A Florida notary cannot give you legal advice or represent you. Confusing the two is exactly what fraudsters rely on.
Can a notary public marry us in Florida?
Yes. Florida law (Fla. Stat. § 741.07) authorizes Florida notaries public to solemnize marriages. You must first obtain a Florida marriage license, the ceremony must take place within the state, and the signed license is returned to the county within 10 days.
